HEREAFTER

Border Patrol agent Lily Turnbow is fighting for her life against a
ruthless terrorist when her surroundings dissolve in a maelstrom of
light and thunder. She awakes 100 years in the future to find a ruined
world in which bands of mutant beings are at war with mankind, and
discovers that she has been changed as much as her environment.
Resurrected into a society only now beginning to recover from “The
Event,” Lily has become a Cross—up, acquiring abilities she had
never known before. Caught up in disorienting circumstances, she
ultimately uses her new found skills in the aid of a sword–and–horse
civilization known as the O’Quinn clan, which has reluctantly taken
her in.
Most members of this society however, are not appreciative of her
aid. She is viewed with fear and suspicion, even after she disposes of
Philip Barnes, a serial killer and another Cross—up, one of her “own
kind”. She finds her only advocate in O’quinn cousin Nate Quick,
whose best efforts cannot protect her from being forced to go before
the clan Elders.
Ultimately, she is faced with the grim alternatives of banishment
into the lonely, brutal new world—-or death.
Lily Turnbow isn’t willing to die—again.
